So, I've picked up the HHG bug and am liking it.

One question I have is this.

What is the life cycle of the glue once it's been heated and gelled (initial heat and cool).

How many times can it be heated than gel again. Or can it be frozen than heated than frozen again? I've made a very small amount but as you can see from my picture, didn't even use 1/4 of it.

So, now what? I've put it in the freezer and plan to use it the next time I get in the shop.

Can I just continue to freeze it over and over or will it just break down the glue and become useless?

Anyone know or can help me here?Rod True39061.9397106481

I'm not sure the answer, but Once I heat a bottle up to use I don't use it after
it's a day old.... I may be too cautious though..

You can use the glue until you see mold growing in it. Keep it refrigerated
and it will last for about 3 weeks. Heat, reheat, doesn't matter although you
will have to add more water to keep the mixture at the right consistency.

I also use the mold growth indicator and have had no problems with periodic reheating and refrigerating.

I've kept HHG frozen for as long as 9 months and it still works fine. You must double and triple wrap to prevent freezer burn, however.

Soooo what if I just kept it in the bottle you see there with the cap on it. Frozen. I plan on using it later this week, it'll than be about 10 days old.

Man am I sounding cheap. I could just make up some more, it ain't that expensive

Just fridge it until you see mold. If you're not using it in a month or so then just toss it and mix new glue when needed. I only make up 55grams per 100ml H20 at a time. That seems to be a workable batch for my schedule.

One thing I do with my empty bottles...I boil them before filling it with new glue. That way, any mold spores are killed off and the glue lasts longer.

One thing we could do, is cut the gelled HHG in small cubes and put them in baggies so it's easy to grab and bring in a small packqage but easy to throw away whatever's left after glueing with it.
